I had a fantastic holiday in Lake Agco- Mahomanoy, Mountain Resort located in Ilomavis Kidapawan, North Cotabato. The resort is 3,937 ft. above sea level. I have experienced the freezing mountain breeze and have seen the fogs everywhere the resort.

There are several options on how to reach Lake Agco such as ride a jeepney, passengers’ van or if you are in a group, the most convenient way is to rent a van but it is quite expensive. So to have a less expensive trip, let’s follow my route on how I got there. I took a van in SM Ecoland terminal going to Kidapawan City which costs me 180 PHP. As I arrived to Kidapawan terminal, I rode a tricycle going to crossing barracks right across Iglesia ni Kristo Church where there was a habal-habal terminal going to Ilomavis. Riding a habal-habal was very challenging. I felt the heat of the sun and the dust flew all over my face and my clothes.  The ride caused me leg pain and even back pain since I can’t lean my back. I just kept holding on the person in front of me so that I won’t fell from the habal-habal. But this is the fastest ride going up to the mountain. I had 1 hour travel from Kidapawan City going to the resort, 5 minutes ride from kidapawan terminal to the habal-habal and almost two hours ride from Davao to Kidapawan City. It took me more or less 3 hours travel to arrive at the resort. For a more comfortable ride on the habal-habal, I advise you to wear your sun glasses, use your shawl to protect your face from the sun, put sun block cream and a bottle of water to prevent dehydration.

The resort is very affordable. They have entrance fee of 20 PHP for day tour and 30 PHP for overnight stay. Their open cottages have a maximum rate of 300 PHP for overnight and 50 PHP less for day tour. But if you want to occupy a room for a maximum of 10 persons, it will only cost 2000 PHP.  But they also have rooms which only cost 500, 600 and 1000 PHP good for 2, 3 and 6 persons respectively. Moreover, if you want to hold an event, they have an open stage for only 1,500 PHP. Indeed, you will enjoy your stay in Lake Agco without spending too much  money.

I had fun on their amenities such as the hot spring Jacuzzi that relaxes my body while dipping in the water, the steaming hot pool which is believed to be therapeutic since the heat comes from the volcanic vent, the natural sauna cave where I got to comfortably stretch my arms, legs and closed my eyes while feeling the warm temperature soothing the tension in my body and lastly I got to see the hot and boiling Lake Agco that according to locals, the lake is hot enough to cook an egg.
