Importance of English Language
English is the number one means of communicating in every Asian region. It is the Lingua Franca that the people in the region use in their daily lives in order to effectively share their thoughts and express their feelings, not only in their region but also in interacting to other nationalities. Just like the businessman who makes transactions to other countries in order to successfully close, negotiate or offer some deals. Thus, every country not only in Asia, strives to learn the correct usage of English.
Nowadays, Asian regions focus on educating their students on speaking and writing in their regional variety of English. As a result, it is one of the major courses in every level such as in elementary and high school unit. In fact, English course is offered as a specialization in college so that a student will have focus on the proper usage of English and eventually will share his knowledge on it after he graduated. Having this as his course makes him an effective English teacher in their region. In this regard, Asian students from different regions who are fearful in speaking, because they falsely believe that they are poor speakers unless they sound like Americans, will have the confidence to speak using their regional variety of English. Moreover, having this regional variety of English will make Asian people maintain their identity while speaking. Let us say for example how the Filipino businessman gives his profile while transacting to other countries. This man actually proclaims to his client the thought of, "I am a Filipino". It is easy to know the nationality of this man because he has this Filipino dictation while speaking in English. Yes as you can see, the Japanese, Singaporean, Korean, Indian and Malaysian have different diction from Filipinos as well as how they pronounce each words. Therefore, English language for Asians is very important as it helps them live their daily lives.

English is a universal language and it is very important not just for Asians to learn the language. It will be easier for all of us to communicate and even do business if there is a common language.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you more, English is I would say the language of the world, its the best way we can communicate with other people from different countries.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and it doesn't matter how you say it, as long as the person you're speaking with understands you. LOL. Now, the correct use is harder. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhen my boy is starting to speak, I had to unsubscribe fr TFC so he could concentrate on learning English first. Now that he is good at it, we are slowly teaching him Tagalog. For a Filipino, knowing how to speak both languages is a must.
ReplyDeleteso true, every region has different accent and some pronunciation, even for native English speakers, British English sounds differently from American English and Australian English. In fact, even in US, New York English has different accent from New England from West Coasters from Southerners. If you get them all mix in like here in US where so many people are from different countries and region, you have to let your ears adapt to these different forms of English speaking, anyway, we all still understand each other, haha!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is very impressed of how well Filipinos can speak every langueage in the world especilly English.
ReplyDeleteO agree, but what irritates me is seeing parents imposing their kids to learn English at a very early age. Eh hindi pa nga marunong magtagalog, English na agad.
